osdacpi is a small program written in C, that uses libxosd library to display information related to acpi (advanced control power interface), gathered from /proc pseudo-filesystem.

Its goal is to provide that information in a fast and easy way.

I wrote it because i was not fully satisfied with the battery applets i was using to monitor the battery of my laptop computer.
They needed huge ammounts of memory (more than 8MB) ,and also they consumed processor cycles (as the applets polled /proc every one second or so).

The idea was to write something small that displayed the battery status for a moment, and then disappear. xosd was great for this.

Just bind any key combinaton, or a button in your desktiop pannel, and go.

Current version is: 0.3

Features:
  • display battery status (% and progress bar)
  • uses three colors for battery status: green (>35%), yellow (>15% & <=35%), and red (<=15%)
  • optionally, displays thermal core info

Requirements:
  • kernel 2.4.22 or later, or acpi patch
  • libxosd
  • /proc pseudo-filesystem
